 Kayla D'Angelo: The FoxThe main protagonist of the story. Kayla D’Angelo (KD) classifies herself as a misanthrope. She despises human nature for all of its corruption and hates herself immensely for being born into a “damned shell.” One day, Kayla is visited by black hounds in her dreams- nightmares that terrorize her by foretelling the future of what's to come of the world as she knows it. When she awakens, she is met with the overpowering sight of an enormous white fox and the revelation that she could see spirits. |  Jendayi (Jax) Anke: The JackalWhen the judgement started, Jendayi lost his little sister, Akari, to the violence of black hounds. That very same day, an elite spirit visits him in his dreams, warning him not to make a contract with the dark...but his mourning and self-loathing had already pushed him to the edge. He agrees to this arrangement of being a tool-however; he comes to realize that there is something incredibly alluring and dangerous about the methods of the governments most wanted Fox. Thus, a rivalry is born. |

 Professor Candice Ivy: The RavenProfessor Candice Ivy is an english and world literature professor at a secretive university created for a unique humanity. Undercover, she is a veteran spirit walker and can easily see and converse with members of the spirit realm. She has seen many faces of life and death, and therefore teaches her vast knowledge of the otherworldly through exploration of poetry and music in her "advanced classes." Intrigued by Kayla's strong conviction in misanthropy, she coaxes her to become an accomplice. |  Gustavo The HellhoundGustavo is a rogue demon spirit who takes over the body of a stray mutt to mock the elite K-9. He has his own mind and doesn’t really care about the outcome of the war between heaven, hell and earth. He’s just happy to have leisure time out of the fire pit and spend it playing with earth toys. As the story progresses, Gus becomes an unusual ally to the K-9 and their human trustees in sniffing out Elyacous’ cloaked demon hounds. |
 The Kingdom NineThe Master's and Elyacous's loyal creations, also known as the Kingdom-Nine (K-9). They are elite watch angels who can take on many beautiful and frightening forms according to their Master's will. After Elyacous's betrayal, the Master entrusted the arch-angel "Mother" with their care, and to find new vessels on earth for their spirits to reside. Mother's very existance is closely tied to the K-9, and she carefully governs and protects their power as they roam with the appearances of canines. |
